More than 1,100 employees at some of the world's biggest AI companies signed an open letter on July 28, 2026.
The letter does not ask for AI development to stop right away. Instead, it asks the US government to help build technical and governance tools. These tools would allow countries to slow down AI development together, but only if it becomes necessary.
