Scientists at the University of Cambridge have completed the first human trial of a new vaccine designed with the help of artificial intelligence. The vaccine aims to protect people against many different coronaviruses, including future variants that do not exist yet. This is one of the first times an AI-designed vaccine has been tested safely in humans.
The trial included 39 healthy volunteers between the ages of 18 and 50. All of them had already received two or three doses of regular COVID-19 vaccines before joining the study. Researchers wanted to see if the new AI-designed vaccine was safe and well tolerated by the human body.
